So much for grave concern of cost overruns and white elephants. It appears that Indonesia, Mexico, Turkey, India and now Poland will apparently compete to bid on hosting the 2036 Olympic Games.
The President of the Republic of Poland Andrzej Duda said, “I would like to announce, after consultations with the Polish Olympic Committee, with the Minister of Sport, and with the Government, that our ambition and intention is to start efforts to organise the Summer Olympic Games in 2036.”

“In this matter, I will forward a letter to the President of the International Olympic Committee, Thomas Bach. It will be handed to him by the President of the Polish Olympic Committee, Radosław Piesiewicz, during the meeting to be held on October 6.”
Poland successfully hosted the 2023 Kraków-Małopolska European Games. The country has never hosted an Olympics. Warsaw will be named as the bid city.
Apparently, the European Olympic Committee (EOC) is offering support for Poland’s bid.
