Obi Igbokwe has been banned for 30 months over alleged steroid use.

Igbokwe’s sample tested positive for dehydrochlormethyltestosterone (DHCMT) following an out-of-competition test on May 26. DHCMT is a performance-enhancing anabolic steroid.

The United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) gave him a 30-month suspension. He provided substantial assistance in the process, so therefore reduced the ban from the standard four-year term.

He will miss the Tokyo Olympic Games.

The 24-year-old Houston, Texas native won a gold medal during the 2019 Doha World Athletics Championships in the mixed 4 x 400m relay.
