American sprint coach, Rana Reider, who happens to currently be under investigation for alleged sexual misconduct, was warned by police in Eugene to stay away from the venue. He somehow gained access to the athlete warm-up area at the World Athletics Championships — he didn’t have credentials to access the area.
Reider is the coach of Canada’s Andre de Grasse and American Trayvon Bromell among others. The 52-year-old coach was removed by security after police were called, having apparently refusing to leave.
The California-based Reider, who has Coached many World and Olympic champion sprinters and jumpers, was not approved for credentials by World Athletics while he is under investigation. The United States Center for SafeSport are carrying out the investigation after allegations were made against him last year.
“Event security discovered an unaccredited person in the athlete warm-up area,” World Athletics said in a press statement.
“He was asked to leave, and he refused.”
When the police arrived, he did leave.
“Outside of the venue, he was stopped by police and advised that if he returned to the venue he would be arrested for trespassing.”
