Turkish steeplechaser Gülcan Mingir has been suspended for two years. Her performances from the 2012 London Olympic Games disqualified according to the Athletics Integrity Unit.
She was provisionally suspended in February after testing positive for the banned steroid Turinabo or Dehydrochlormethyltestosterone (DHCMT), after a re-test of her London 2012 testing samples.
In addition to her suspension, which is backdated to Feb 3, 2020, the 31-year-old will lose all performances from Aug. 4, 2012, to Aug 3, 2014 including her personal best from 2013 at 9:45.80.
She will keep her 2012 European Championships gold medal
Mingir failed to qualify from the 3,000-metre steeplechase heats at the 2012 London Olympic Games.
In 2012, the World Anti-Doping Agency randomly performed out-of-competition tests on a range of Turkish athletes and found that 31 tested positive for either Turinabol or Stanazolol. It was not good show in advance of their bid at the time for the 2020 Olympic Games, which later were awarded to Tokyo.
The Turkish Athletics Federation chairman Megmet Terzi, stepped down from his position that week.
