Deadline looms for Russian Athletics Federation

The Russian Athletics Federation has had their 2015 suspension renewed 13 times. They are looking at the possibility of being completely expelled.

The Russian Athletics Federation now has until Monday, Feb. 10 to explain to World Athletics alleged doping cover-up for Russian high jumper Danil Lysenko.

The Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU) charged former (RUSAF) president Dmitry Shiyakhatin and six other officials with Obstructing the anti-doping investigation of Lysenko.

They are charged with manipulating documents.

Last week, the AIU recommended that RUSAF be banned completely from World Athletics. Their suspension from 2015 has been extended at least 13 times.

Tokyo 2020 is now on the line for the Russians, they already missed the Rio games.

As reported yesterday, the executive committee of the Russian Sports Ministry quit en masse. The organization is now been run by the Russian Olympic Committee.
