The Diamond League series will offer 14 meets in 14 different cities for 2021.

The prestigious series will start on May 23 in Rabat, Morocco, then take a one-month break for the postponed Tokyo Olympics, and end with a September 8-9 meet in Zurich.

“The calendar is strictly provisional at this stage and remains subject to changes depending on the global health situation in 2021,” organisers said in a statement.

The meet on in London on July 13 will be the final Diamond League meet before the Tokyo Olympics.

The first post-Olympics meet is scheduled for Aug. 14 in Shanghai.

A second meet in China is scheduled for Aug. 22 at a venue to be confirmed.

The only meet in North America is scheduled for Aug. 21 in Eugene, at Hayward Field, which is the host city of the World Athletics Championships in 2022.

London Diamond League meet down to one day

The London edition has been a two-day affair in the past, however is down to one day, as the city barely hangs onto the meet.

The UK is scheduled to host two Diamond League meets in 2021 one each in July and August. The August meet due to the rescheduled Olympics is cancelled. It was going to take place in Gateshead.

The precarious summer schedule is full of conflicting – tentatively scheduled – events like the British Grand Prix among others. All scheduling is based on the return to normalcy, post-pandemic.
