The Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU) has indicated that Ukrainian marathon runner Vitaliy Shafar has been suspended for alleged doping.

He received a three-year and seven-month suspension for an Athlete Biological Passport (ABP) violation.

Shafar’s suspension started retroactively on Jan. 31 2017. He will be able to return to competition by September.

In an unusual move, the AIU disqualified all of her results from April 17, 2014.

His most notable performance was when she finished in 29th position at the 2012 London Olympic Games. The 38-year-old’s best is 2:09:53 from the 2014 Toronto Waterfront Marathon.

SHOESTRINGS: Unrelated, the 2012 London Olympic sample retest program has ended, which had an eight-year statute of limitations.
