Sports marketing group LimeLight Sports has acquired Virgin Sport.
The London-based company purchase includes all three major events operated by the company – the Asics London 10k, Oxford Half Marathon, and Hackney Half Marathon as well as all of the employees and company assets.
The three races have been postponed this year due to the coronavirus pandemic, however, are mass-participation events. In 2019 the Oxford Half Marathon has over 12,000 registrations, while the Hackney Half Marathon had 25,000 people registered.
Craig Dews, chief executive of LimeLight Sports Group, said “Virgin Sport has brought a unique style to the participation sports sector and we are delighted to be taking over the business. We are excited by the addition of the three events to our LimeLight Sports Club and the increased opportunity, offers, information, and service they bring to our consumers.”
