The Athletics Illustrated Person of the Week honours for the week of
November 16, 2020, goes to Canadian Coach Dennis Fairall.

Fairall is the most successful track and cross-country coach in U Sport history. He passed away on November 6 at the age of 67.

Fairall led the Windsor Lancers to a combined 71 Ontario University Athletics (OUA) and U Sports Championship titles. Under his guidance, numerous athletes found success during their university careers and beyond. Among the hundreds of athletes who he worked with some are iconic in Canadian athletics lore including Olympians Peter Fonseca, O’Brian Gibbons, and Melissa Bishop.

The fieldhouse at the university was renamed in his honour in 2016.

The Athletics Illustrated Person of the Week recognition is an endeavor that aims to recognise noteworthy or newsworthy achievements, actions, or events in the sport of athletics by individuals who are involved or have affected the sport in some way.
