The 2023 and 2024 Canadian Mountain & Trail Running Championship will take place in Squamish BC, under the umbrella of the Squamish 50 race weekend, Athletics Canada announced this week.  

The event, which will include a Short Trail Championship of 50km and Long Trail Championship of 50 miles, is scheduled for August 19 and 20, 2023. The date of the 2024 edition, which will serve as the selection trials for the 2025 World Mountain & Trail Running Championships, is still to be determined.

“For 10+ years we’ve worked tirelessly to establish the Squamish 50 races as the largest ultra-distance trail weekend in the country,” said Squamish 50 race director and internationally acclaimed trail runner Gary Robbins. “As the Canadian Championships for the next two years we endeavour to make these races the absolute pinnacle of ultra-distance running within Canada.”
