The Athletics Illustrated Global One-hour Virtual Race will now have a team competition with the same scoring system as cross-country meets: the first five runners across the line on each team receive points related to their overall finish position.
The team with the lowest score wins. With winning comes team medals and major bragging rights.
Note that in the below sample, Team B wins, even though the first overall individual runner was on Team A. Also note that it was a close race for Team A and Team B, but Team C finished well back even though their top finisher placed third overall. The rest of Team C was back a bit – but all three teams had a great time.
