Athletics Canada named six athletes today that will represent Canada at the 2016 IAAF World Half Marathon Championships in Cardiff, Wales. 2012 Olympian Reid Coolsaet and Canadian marathon record holder Lanni Marchant lead the charge. The 2016 IAAF World Half Marathon Championships take place March 26.

This initial IAAF World Half Marathon national team project was a resounding success, as 10 women and 11 men met the qualification standard of 1:16:00 and 1:06:00 respectively (see full list below). The top three declared and available athletes were selected for the team. The team is funded in partnership with Athletics Canada’s national 10km, Half-Marathon and Marathon road Championships in Ottawa, Calgary and Toronto respectively.
