On Tuesday, November 30, Team Run Flagstaff (TRF), announced that local running store Run Flagstaff will assume ownership of the group.

“We can’t wait to see what this staff of experts and enthusiasts can do to make the next decade (and beyond!) of TRF its best yet,” the media release stated.

Apparently, little will change as the group will continue with its race, the Fourth of July Downtown Mile and the Sunnyside Up 5K.

The new ownership will breathe new life into the 11-year-long running TRF, as they had been affected by the pandemic. Team memberships status is unchanged. And four-time NCAA Coach of the Year Mike Smith will continue the programs that he has managed.

“We want to take this opportunity to thank all of you who have supported Team Run Flagstaff since the early days — its first 11 years — and we encourage you to continue to be part of this amazing community. What we’ve built together is truly one-of-a-kind — a special organization that is primed for even more in its next chapter. As always we welcome your ideas and feedback. We are grateful to Run Flagstaff for continuing to cultivate a supportive, fun, and healthy space for all ages and abilities to join together in running.”

The release was shared by the current leadership team in Erin Strout, (almost former) executive director, Mike Smith, president, Cristy Zeller, vice president, Todd Schultz, secretary, John Comer, treasurer and Vince Sherry, board member.
