Athletics’ doping and corruption scandal caused three of the world governing body’s senior officials to quit on Thursday as it began to wake up to the explosive allegations levelled against it.
The son of the president of the International Association of Athletics Federations, its treasurer and one of its legal advisers stood down pending the outcome of an inquiry into claims of a widespread cover-up of positive tests and “suspicious” samples.
The true scale of the alleged scandal has been revealed by The Daily Telegraph following detailed analysis of documents originally exposed by German broadcaster WDR which show a list of 225 athletes claimed by a whistle-blower to have produced abnormal blood values between 2001 and 2008.
