The Olympic marathon course for the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games is now confirmed.
Both the men’s and women’s marathons will happen in Sapporo, Hokkaido some 800-kilometres north of Tokyo, where the temperature could be hot.
Race waking will also take place in Sapporo.
Odori Park will now be the start and finish spots, which was met by approval from the IOC, who made the unilateral decision to move the marathon north.
The route features one large 21K loops and one smaller approximate 10K loop, which will be run twice.
