Canada’s second-fastest marathon runner, Trevor Hofbauer, will be competing at the Comox Valley Half Marathon on Sunday. The 30-year-old owns a best of 2:09:51 from the 2019 Toronto Waterfront Marathon. He competed in the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games and will be looking to improve upon his 64:30 half-marathon best, which he set in Philadelphia in 2015.

“We know that everyone is excited to be getting back to live racing and we are very happy to host runners on our very fast and scenic course,” says race director, Wayne Crowe. “There will be runners coming from all over, seeking fast times and personal bests, including Olympic Marathoner Trevor Hofbauer. Over 100 volunteers will once again do their best to make this a great experience for all participants. Also, a reminder to everyone about the time change and make sure that you set your clocks ahead one hour the night before the race.”

The course is fast, if run with the right tactics. The best performances typically come to those who race the first 6K a little ahead of goal half-marathon pace, ease back until after the turnaround at 11K, then the race begins. The return is net downhill.
