World Cross Country Champion, Jacob Kiplimo, was involved in a car crash and escaped with non-life-threatening injuries. The incident happened on Wednesday while he was travelling from Kapchorwa to Kween district.
As reported by local Blizz News, apparently Kiplimo lost control of his vehicle, it veered off the road and overturned along Kamunerket Mengya Road before colliding in a roadside trench. Fortunately, locals rushed to his rescue. He was pulled from the car. He was on his way home from the 2024 World Cross Country Championships.

He was then transported to Kapchorwa for treatment. Kiplimo was thankful for the help.
“I am not sure how much body damage internally this could have caused to me, but I am grateful to God for shielding me. It could have been worse,” he said.
Kiplimo running off the road in rural Uganda is eerily similar to Kenyan Kelvin Kiptum’s car crash that killed him. The marathon world record holder was driving at high speeds lost control and hit a tree.
Kiplimo successfully defended his 2023 World Cross Country Championships win from Bathurst, Australia with the win Saturday in Belgrade, Serbia. The 23-year-old holds the world record in the half-marathon event. He clocked 57:31 during the 2021 Lisbon Half Marathon.
