Over 41,000 people registered to walk, run and wheel the 33rd edition of the Vancouver Sun Run Sunday, April 23. It was another successful event that saw top national talent, as well as some international athletes, take in the event.

First time Vancouver Sun Runner, Joseph Gray of Colorado Springs, COL won in the time of 29:38, while Karolina Jarzynska-Nadolska from Poland, won the women’s race with a time of 32:39.  Gray was able to fend off veteran runners, Geoff Martinson of Vancouver and Daniel Kipkoech of Kenya with times of 29:46 and 29:54 respectively.

In the Women’s overall division, Kinsey Gomez finished second but captured the top Canadian spot with a time of 33:20, and local favourite, Rachel Cliff finished third with a time of 33:35.

The prize purse of $25,000 is allocated as follows:

Top three Overall Male and Female – $3,000, $1,500 and $750.

Top five Canadian Male and Female – $2,500, $1,500, $1,000, $500, and $250.

Top three Male and Female Overall Masters – $750, $500 and $250.
