Gabriela DeBues-Stafford is preparing for her 2022 track season, especially the 2022 Eugene World Athletics Championships happening in mid-July.
Athletics Illustrated talked to her trackside at Centennial Stadium at the University of Victoria on Friday, May 20.
Currently, the Nike-sponsored athlete is coached by Trent and Hilary Stellingwerff. Trent is a coach and exercise physiologist, while Hilary is the head coach of the University of Victoria Vikes.
DeBues-Stafford explains her workout, recent race tactics at the Sound Running meet in Los Angeles and whether she is going to “go for it” during upcoming Diamond League meets in Eugene and Rome.
She fully intends on competing in the 1500m distance at the World Championships, which begin on July 15.
