According to the Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU) Bo Ling from China and Mosisa Siyoum of Ethiopia provisionally suspended for doping.
The athletes tested positive for performance enhancing substances oxandrolone and erythropotin (EPO), respectively.
For Siyoum a “notive of allegation,” has been issued, meanwhile for Ling a “notice of charge” has been issued.
Mosisa Siyoum
Mosisa Siyoum is a middle distance runner from Ethiopia who tested positive for the red blood cell booster EPO.
The 26-year-old ran a new personal best in the 1500 metre event on February 22, 2026 clocking in a 3:34.28 performance. The indoor mark was accomplished at Orlen Copernicus Cup in Arena Toruń, Poland.
A standard suspension is typically four years. Should the athletes appeal, the Court of Arbitration for Sport may hear their cases and change the result of the charges. However, it is most likely that the athletes, if they admit fault, will have be served a reduction in time for making the process simpler and shorter. Three years is more likely.
Little is know about Bo Ling at this time.
Allegation versus charge
The difference between the two status’s:
| Stage | Meaning | Legal Weight | Typical Situation |
|---|
| Notice of Allegation | The AIU is formally alleging a possible rule violation and notifying the athlete/person under investigation. | Preliminary accusation. Investigation may still be ongoing. | Often used early in anti-doping or integrity investigations. |
| Notice of Charge | The AIU has determined there is a “case to answer” and is formally prosecuting the alleged violation before a disciplinary tribunal. | Formal prosecution step. The matter proceeds toward adjudication/hearing. | Evidence review completed and AIU believes the rules were violated. |
What is oxandrolone
Oxandrolone is an oral anabolic-androgenic steroid (AAS) derived from dihydrotestosterone (DHT). It is primarily known for its ability to promote weight gain, increase muscle mass, and reverse protein catabolism caused by severe trauma or long-term steroid use. It is recognized in the bodybuilding community for having high anabolic effects and relatively low androgenic effects, and it was formerly sold under the brand name Anavar.
What is EPO
Erythropoietin (EPO) is a hormone produced primarily by the kidneys that stimulates the bone marrow to create red blood cells, which carry oxygen throughout the body. It is used medically to treat anemia, particularly in patients with chronic kidney disease, but it is also notoriously misused as a performance-enhancing drug in sports.
