The Togo-based African Cross Country Championships have been postponed due to the Covid-19.
The meet was scheduled to happen this weekend in Lomé, Togo.
According to the Confederation of African Athletics, the event was postponed by a recommendation of the government, who recently implemented new increased social distancing protocols to limit exposures.
According to www.worldometers.com, Togo has reported 7,521 cases with 90 deaths and 1,173 active cases. The population of Lomé is just over 800,000, while the population of Togo is just over 8-million. Although their death per 1M is a low 11 and cases per 1M is also low at 894, they are experiencing an increase.
Poland’s 4 x 400m team out due to Covid-19
According to Inside the Games, Poland’s 4 x 400m team is out due to Covid-19.
The Polish men’s 4×400 metres relay team has been withdrawn from the European Athletics Indoor Championships following a COVID-19 outbreak.
The Polish Athletic Association confirmed that the team would not take part in today’s final because of “cases of coronavirus infection”.
Polish city Torun is staging the European Championships, and the men’s 4x400m final is the penultimate event of the meet tonight.
Poland hold the European record – 3min 01.77sec, set in 2018 – and were considered strong medal contenders.
European Athletics now lists just five nations on the start list for the final – The Netherlands, Italy, Britain, the Czech Republic and 2019 champions Belgium.
