Twenty-five-year-old German sprinter, Owen Ansah, is facing potential sanction after the German anti-doping agency “Nationale Anti Doping Agentur Deutschland” (NADA) found he evaded or refused to submit a sample to doping control officers.
The Hamburg native is the first German to break the 10-second benchmark. His best is 9.98 seconds from June 6 this year. He also recorded an illegal 9.93, due to wind. Ansah was a member of the 4 x 100m relay team that finished fifth in the 2025 Tokyo World Athletics Championships.
As of mid-July 2026, Ansah is under a “results management process” by NADA regarding a rule violation for allegedly failing or refusing to submit to a doping test. He remains eligible to compete while the investigation proceeds.
Russia
Meanwhile, Russia, which the International Olympic Committee (IOC) want to bring back to international competition, suspended five of its own athletes. None is in the sport of athletics. The Russian Anti-Doping Agency may have changed its ways.
World Athletics continue to refuse the Russian athletics federation. World Athletics president Sebastian Coe is not buying it. Currently, the reason for Russia’s ban is due to the war in Ukraine. Former IOC president Thomas Bach waved off the reason because at least two dozen conflicts are going on at any time around the world.
The latest five sanctioned compete in weightlifting, bodybuilding, wrestling and rowing.
