Brendan Foster, Olympic bronze medallist received a knighthood on Queen Elizabeth’s Birthday Honours List.

He earned the bronze during the 1976 Montreal Olympics in the 10,000-metre event. He also earned three Commonwealth Games medals. He earned gold at the 1974 European Championships in the 5,000m and gold at the 1978 Commonwealth Games in the 10,000m, when he represented England.
His personal bests are 13:14.6 and 27:30.3.
He created several races including the now popular Great North Run in 1981. He went on to become a BBC
