Armand “Mondo” Duplantis broke his personal best, Olympic record, defended his own Olympic title, and then went on to break his own world record delighting 75,000 people in attendance. The roar from the crowd was as loud as for any track and field event in history.
Duplantis vaulted to 6.25m.
American Sam Kendricks finished second with his 5.95m vault. Emmanouil Karalis of Greece took third in 5.90m.

His previous world record was 6.24m. The Olympic record was 6.03m by Thiago Braz from the 2016 Rio Olympic Games. Now both are 6.25 by Duplantis.
It is his ninth world record.
