The BC 8K Road Race Championships are taking place Sunday, February 27 in Greater Victoria (North Saanich).

The 43rd annual event was set to take place in early January, however, was postponed due to various issues including snow, tightened pandemic protocols, and race supply channel issues.

The race is part of the Vancouver Island Race Series as well as the BC Athletics Super Series.

The event has a rich history of outstanding performances that has attracted many Olympians and world-class age-group competitors. Many Canadian records have been set at Pioneer. Initiated in 1980 by the Prairie Inn Harriers, and staged in Central Saanich for 38 years, the race relocated to nearby North Saanich in 2018. The new certified 8K course, is of near-identical profile to the old course and features an out and back route through rural farmlands just north of the Victoria International Airport along mainly quiet country roads.
