Press release

Canada Running Series joins other race organizers to inspire Canadians from coast to coast to move on June 3rd to mark Global Running Day.

Organizers of the largest road races from Newfoundland to Vancouver are inviting Canadians to register for free and log your walking, running or rolling kilometres to be part of a nation-wide initiative to celebrate movement. While there is no cost to register, anyone who is in a position to donate can give to the Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA), the charity being supported by this national collaboration.

“Physical activity is one important component of mental health, but it can’t stand alone,” says Charlotte Brookes, National Event Director of Canada Running Series. “We are calling on Canadians to move and be active in support of the Canadian Mental Health Association
(CMHA). Now, more than ever, it is important to support friends, family, and our fellow
community members and enable all Canadians to flourish and thrive.”

Before or after getting out to move, Canadians are invited to tune into Facebook Live for a
digital relay across the country. Starting in Atlantic Canada at 12:00 p.m. ADT, Race Directors from 16 of Canada’s favourite road races will be going live on their Facebook Pages to celebrate what running means to them. Each segment will feature athletes, run crews, and other special guests talking about how they’re getting active on Global Running Day. A full schedule of where to catch all the action can be found on our registration form.
Canada Running Series will be broadcasting the Ontario segment live on Facebook at 12:00
p.m. EDT. Our Ontario Facebook live event will feature:

• Olympian MPs Peter Fonseca and Adam Van Koeverden.

• A star-studded Canadian athlete roster including Reid Coolsaet, Krista Duchene, Tristan
Woodfine, Dylan Wykes and Lyndsay Tessier.

• Ontario’s run crews and clubs will share why they love to run and what’s special about
our Ontario community.

We’re making it easy for you to share that you’re moving with us! Use our official Instagram sticker to tell the world how far you’re going! In the GIF feature on Instagram stories search “canadamoves” or “canadabouge” to find it. Wherever you post, be sure to include our official hashtags #canadamoves and #canadabouge.
Organizers are reminding Canadians to run with people from your household and follow all rules and regulations put in place by municipal, provincial and federal governments and public health agencies.

“We’re all in this together, so let’s remember what it’s like to run together… apart,” says Brookes.
