“The hamstring was a big setback, but I’m just really happy to be able to turn it around and get as fit as I could today. I went out there and I gave it my best shot. I put myself in there hoping for a miracle and it didn’t happen. I held on like hell and I fought like hell to hang in there. It was a tough last 10km and I’m proud of how I held on.”
The Tokyo Olympic medallist relishes the opportunity to represent his country once more in Santiago.
“I love putting the Canada vest on. I love it more when I can put it on when I’m in peak shape and I think I’ve proven over the years that I’m consistent at showing up at the meets that really matter,” Dunfee said.
Captain Canada
You can’t have a team without a team captain and Team Canada has chosen a great one.
2021 Olympian Maddy Price accepted the honour today in Santiago. The 400-metre runner is competing at her first Pan American Games.
“We are so excited to be here with Team Canada and we can’t wait to start competing and performing,” Price said. “The Village is incredible and we’re just grateful to wear the maple leaf on our chest every day, whenever we get the opportunity. Thanks for cheering us on from home and we’re excited to perform!”
