Christian Taylor, defending Olympic champion in the triple jump ruptured his achilles tendon. He is out of the Tokyo Olympic Games.
The 30-year-old two-time Olympic champion will miss this summer’s Olympics after rupturing his achilles tendon.
The rupture happened earlier this week during the Ostrava athletics meet in Ostrava, Czech Republic.
Taylor had surgery to re-attached the tendon already, however, the Olympics are scheduled to begin on July 23.

His personal best in the triple jump is 18.21m.
He is a four-time World Athletics Triple Jump Champion. He has sprinting talent as well having run as fast as 10.58 and 20.70 in the 100m and 200m, respectively. The Atlanta, GA native has finished first in the Diamond League meets 29 times including once in the long jump. The American record holders was the favourite going into the Tokyo Olympic Games this summer.
