British runner, Eilish McColgan, will be running her first marathon at the 2025 London event next month. The Commonwealth Games 10,000 metre gold medallist and European Championships 10,000m silver medallist lashed back at body shamers on X formerly known as Twitter.

Users on social media’s trash heap (X) attempted to shame her after she posted a video of her workout on a treadmill.

Good for her.

Former champion marathon runner, mother and her coach, Liz McColgan also fought back.

“Some people have no comprehension of how much you have to fuel your body to do this type of training. Bunch of clowns,” McColgan wrote in a follow-up post as per BBC.

Eilish McColgan will debut at the distance at age 33. Based on her 10,000m personal bests, she may be capable of sub-2:18:00 in first go, if not faster. McColgan ran the 10,000m one second faster than fellow British runner Paula Radcliffe who formerly held the world record in the marathon at 2:15:25.

Saying that, everything has to go right on race day and marathons can be difficult to get right in a first attempt.

Shoestrings…

Pop star Harry Styles ran the Tokyo Marathon in 3:31 last Sunday. Celebrities are known to take in the event to test their metal.

Styles is a former member of One Direction and is known for several his songs including Sign of the Times.

Paula Radcliffee also ran the Tokyo Marathon, clocking 2:57:26. The 51-year-old hopes to also run the Boston Marathon next month so that she completes all six of the Marathon Majors. Sydney is being added to the Majors in August. So, she may to keep fit for summer. The Majors also include: Boston, Berlin, New York, London and Chicago.
