It was announced on February 27 that Ethiopian athlete Kokebe Abeba Olekeba was provisionally suspended for doping.

She tested positive for the prohibited substance, clostebol.

The Athletics Integrity Unit has now officially suspended her for three years, effective Dec. 16, 2024. Results back from Nov. 2, 2024, have been annulled.

Olekeba finished second in the 2024 ChangZhou West Taihu Lake Half Marathon, which takes place in ChangZou, China, in February. She clocked a 1:13:38 result.

From the National Institute of Health (NIH): Clostebol, the 4-chloro derivative of testosterone, available as over-the-counter product in pharmacies and drugstores in several countries, is mostly commercialized as a cream or spray in the form of acetate ester.
