Ebsite Tilahun Asres whose last race was Košice Marathon in October is provisionally suspended for testing positive for the banned triamcinolone acetonide. Kenyan Reuben Kiprop Kipyego, whose last finished race was in Rotterdam in 2022 (3rd place), for three whereabouts failures since last summer.

Both have been given notice by the Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU).

Kipyego owns a best of 2:03:55 from the 2021 Milan Marathon. The 28-year-old ran the Buenos Aires Marathon, which was the South American Marathon Championships in 2:05:18 in 2019. Four times he has run sub 2:06. The 2019 Abu Dhabi Marathon in 2:04:40 and Valencia in 2:04:12 in 2020 in addition to Rotterdam and Milan.
