Great Britain’s Laura Muir has hired Steve Cram and Laura Weightman has her new coaches. Muir left her long-time coach Andy Young in 2023. She was with him for 11 years, and he also coached fellow Brit Jemmie Reekie.

The Olympic 1500-metre silver medallist wrote on Instagram that Cram and Weightman are “two truly inspiring people.”

The 31-year-old is a three-time Olympian and earned the 1500m silver during the 2021 Tokyo Olympic Games.

Muir is also a six-time World Athletics Championships competitor, earning bronze during the 2022 Eugene event. She earned bronze and gold during the 2022 Birmingham Commonwealth Games. The former was in the 800m event.

Muir’s personal best in the 1500m is 3:53.37. She holds the European record in the 3000m short track (indoors) having clocked 8:26.41 in Messehalle, Karlsruhe, Germany. Muir also holds the European best-known time in the two-mile race running to a 9:04.84 performance in 2024 at the Armory Track & Field Center in New York as well as the 1000m national record of 2:31.93 in Birmingham back in 2017.

Muir has competed well during the Diamond League, including setting the British record in the mile at 4:15.24 at the Monaco event in July 2023.
