The Vikes completed the team title sweep as they were crowned champions in both the men’s and women’s divisions. This is the Vikes’ first time winning both team titles in the same year since the 2012-13 season.

The men’s team claimed their 16th Canada West team title, first since the 2015-16 season. “We’re really proud of our team today. Both teams to win.

“We’ve been working on this for a long time. And yeah, it’s really special to do it at home. And they, especially the men, dominated today and really stepped up.

“We had several guys who were missing a couple of weeks ago. So, it’s great to see the women. I mean, UBC and us are gonna be buying for a podium spot in new sports, so we’re just pumped that we got the win today and we get to do it again in two weeks, so get ready to go,” said Hilary Stellingwerff, University of Victoria Head Coach, when talking about what it means to win both team titles on home soil.

Kuchar dominated as he led from start to finish. Kuchar displayed an impressive motor as he continued to pull away from his competition as the race progressed. This gold medal was Kuchar’s first Canada West Championship podium finish. Ian McAllister joined Kuchar on the podium as he separated from the pack to capture the bronze medal.
