Kenyan distance runner Daisy Cherotich was suspended for doping by the Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU). She is the second suspended on the same day on Thursday, October 19.

On January 11, 2023, Cherotich provided a sample from an out-of-competition test in Kapsabet, Kenya. The sample tested positive for erythropoietin (EPO).

According to the AIU, Cherotich was given an exceptional extension to respond to the charges. Even though there were attempts several times to contact her she never responded. Therefore it is assumed that she has waived her rights to appeal and has accepted the charges. On July 3rd she was given notice of her four-year suspension.

The 26-year-old Cherotich ran all of her personal bests in an 18-month stretch of time.

Her bests are 5000 in 14:56.46, 10,000 in 30:37.31, 10K (road) 30:31, half marathon of 1:06:15 and marathon 2:25:30 between June 2021 and December 2022.
