The Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU) on Tuesday announced that the organisation has provisionally suspended Michael Kunyuga for tampering with their operations.
Kunyuga, the 2017 Padova Marathon champion, was suspended on August 1 last year for the presence/use of the prohibited substance Norandrosterone.
The AIU has Michael Kunyuga Njenga (Kenya) for Tampering. Njenga is already provisionally suspended for the presence/use of a Prohibited Substance (Norandrosterone).

The AIU wrote on Twitter, “The AIU has [suspended] Michael Kunyuga Njenga (Kenya) for Tampering. Njenga is already provisionally suspended for the presence/use of a Prohibited Substance (Norandrosterone).”
Kunyuga’s last race was during the 2022 Rimi Riga Marathon where he finished in second in the time of 2:12:44. The 36-year-old owns a personal best of 2:06:43 from the Seville Marathon run in 2020.
Kenya is still in Category A which means it is at the highest doping risk, along with Ethiopia, Morocco, Nigeria, Bahrain, Belarus, and Ukraine.
