Goodbye static logo. The 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games are the first to feature an animated logo. We will soon look back and find it interesting that the combined technology, art and storytelling work together so well in a rich media-like format.

The 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games Organizing Committee (LA28) released the official LA28 logo on its website.

Combining art, technology and storytelling

The logo rotates between several images in the top right corner, showcasing the various sports taking place during the Games.

“Built for the digital age,” LA28 has designed the emblem to “evolve, reflecting the spirit of limitless possibilities.”

The animated emblem is pure aesthetic.

The story includes over 50 personalized designs evoking diversity, transformation, with symbolism taken from The Games’ various sports. The designs echo LA’s character, colour, lifestyle and image.

The design’s intent is juxtaposed against the reality of the USA politically speaking during these times. While LA has been the epicentre of ICE removing foreign workers and the protestations, the Los Angeles Games logos represent a foreshadowing of hope and change.

“With just three years to go, LA28 remains steadfast in our commitment to deliver an unforgettable Paralympic Games in Los Angeles for the very first time in history,” said Reynold Hoover, LA28 Chief Executive Officer. “The LA28 Paralympic Games will be an incredible opportunity to reshape the conversation around individuals with disabilities within the sports world and beyond, and has the capacity to serve as a catalyst for progress, inclusivity and global recognition of the world’s third-largest sporting event.”

“In just three years, Los Angeles will make history as we host the City’s first-ever Paralympic Games,” said Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass. “It’s so important for our young Angelenos – especially those with disabilities – to see these elite athletes as they show the world what can be accomplished with equal opportunity and self-determination. This is an incredible opportunity for the City to support the Paralympic movement and the power it has to uplift and unite humanity. Not only have we committed to delivering accessible Games, but we are also going to leave a lasting, tangible legacy for so many of our Angelenos with disabilities.”

About the LA28 Olympic and Paralympic Games

The LA28 Games will mark Los Angeles’ third time to host the Olympic Games, previously hosted in 1984 and 1932, and first time to host the Paralympic Games. Los Angeles will host the world’s most elite athletes in 2028 as it welcomes Paralympians and Olympians from around the world to compete on the biggest stage in sports. The LA28 Games are independently operated by a privately funded, non-profit organization with revenue from corporate partners, licensing agreements, hospitality and ticketing programs and a significant contribution from the International Olympic Committee.
