Tanzanian runner Jackline Juma Sakilu has been provisionally suspended by the Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU) after testing positive for anabolic steroids.

The 39-year-old began to run new personal bests in 2024, after 13 years since her first climb up the elite ladder in middle distances. She was never faster than sub-elite level.

In February 2024, she set a new lifetime best in the half-marathon, clocking in at 1:06:05 to set a national record and to put her just a minute or so outside of some of history’s best half-marathon runners.

A month later, she clocked a 2:21:27 marathon in Chongqing, China, which she won.
