The Athletics Illustrated Person of the Week honour for the week of May, 18, 2020 is awarded to Canadian 800-metre record holder, Brandon McBride. McBride has been helping out families that are in need during the Covid-19 pandemic in his hometown of Windsor, Ontario.
He is Canada’s all-time fastest 800-metre runner and is currently working on his master’s degree. Meanwhile, he is training to keep in shape for when the competition calendar opens again.
The 25-year-old and his girlfriend purchased gift cards from FreshCo and delivered them to eight families. He is continuing to look at giving more grocery cards. He told Canadian Running Magazine, “this is a responsibility [of his] to give back to others.”
