Russian Yelena Isinbayeva to return to work in IOC Athletes’ Commission role after an investigation led by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) concluded.

The two-time Olympic champion will resume her role in September.

The 41-year-old wrote on social media that she does not fall under any sanctions handed out by the IOC to do with Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

Yisinbayeva retired from competing in the pole vault event in 2016. She was elected to serve an eight-year term on the IOC’s Athletes’ Commission that same year.

“Since 2016, I am a member of the International Olympic Committee, where I actively work with my colleagues, outstanding athletes from all over the world, for the benefit of the development of sports and the Olympic Movement,” she wrote.

Claims of fake news

Friends, I appeal to everyone who distributes fake articles and information, I am a women of the world, I have always been and I will remain one!”

She was accused of being associated with the Yunármiya which is a youth branch of the All-Russian Association of the National Military Patriotic Social Movement.

“In Russia, as in any other country in Europe, every athlete belongs to one or another sports club,” she said.

“Until 2018, I played for CSKA and was awarded high awards and titles for outstanding sports achievements.”

Yisibayeva holds a best vault of 5.06m from the Letzigrund, Zürich Diamond League meet in 2009, which stands as the world record. She is a two-time Olympic gold medallist and also won an Olympic bronze. She is a three-time World Champion and also earned one bronze at the World Athletics Championships.

Facebook message from Isinbayeva

Below is a message from Isinbayeva’s Facebook account.

Friends, I rarely react to any news or articles related to my name…

But this time I decided to dot the dots for everyone who is interested in this topic and who is interested in the truth.

So, to begin with, I will introduce myself again.

I, Yelena Isinbaeva, a legend of world athletics/pole vault.

From the age of 5 to 15 I was engaged in gymnastics, I have the rank of master of sports.

From the age of 15 – 34, I was engaged in pole vaulting.

At the age of 20, I set my first pole vault world record of 4.83.

At the age of 21 ( in 2004), I won my first Olympic gold medal with a new world record of 4.91.

At the age of 22, I entered the history of world athletics and sports in general, as the first women to jump to a height of 5 meters (P.S. to all interested, YouTube to help, check the fact).

At the age of 26, I won my second Olympic gold medal with a new world record of 5.05.

At the age of 30 (2012), with a tear in the thigh lifting muscle, I won a bronze medal at the London Olympics.

During my career, I set 30 world records, won 7 world championships, 2 European championships, and the World Cup.

Recognized as the best athlete of the planet.

The current world record in women’s pole vault is 5.06 cm, still belongs to me, for more than 11 years now.

I have been awarded the highest state awards for my great achievements in sports, including at the international level (twice recognized as the best athlete of the LAUREUS WORLD SPORT AWARD, awarded the Prince of Asturias Award (now King of Spain Felipe VI,

for outstanding achievements in sports), being recognized as the best athlete in Europe for many years in a row).

In Russia, as in any other country in Europe, every athlete belongs to one or another sports club.

Until 2018, I played for CSKA and was awarded high awards and titles for outstanding sports achievements. The titles that are being talked about today are nominal, since I am not and have never been in the service of the armed forces of the Russian Federation. Just as I have never been a State Duma deputy or a member of any party.

My vocation is SPORTS.

In 2013, I founded my own charitable foundation, whose work is aimed at the development of youth sports, mass sports and sports for children with disabilities.

For 9 years now we have been standing on sports grounds for free use, today there are more than 90 of them, I hold athletics competitions identifying talented children, equipping orphanages with sports equipment, etc.

Since 2016, I am a member of the International Olympic Committee, where I actively work with my colleagues, outstanding athletes from all over the world, for the benefit of the development of sports and the Olympic movement.

There was a temporary pause in the work, the IOC needed time to sort everything out.

Today I am happy to announce that already in September 2023 I will resume my international activities in the IOC, since the IOC has no doubts about me and I do not fall under any articles and sanctions.

Friends, I appeal to everyone who distributes fake articles and information: – I am a women of the world, I have always been and I will remain one!

I live where I work, eat what I love, communicate with those whom I appreciate and respect.

I have always believed and will continue to believe in the best sides of every person, even those people who are “ready to throw a stone at me today”, just because someone, something, somewhere said, wrote or distributed a photo 10 years ago that has no connection with real reality.

Remember – envy is a destructive feeling.

Check the information, analyze it, do not let yourself be deceived and led astray from the path of achieving your own goals.

Value yourself and your time, don’t waste it…You still definitely have a chance to achieve something in this life.

Good luck to everyone!
