The Rock ’n’ Roll Marathon Series® announced today the addition of a new venue to its international tour that will take place in Monterrey, Nuevo León, Mexico. The new venue will join Mérida and Oaxaca to complete a Mexican trilogy of musically themed running events. The inaugural event will take place on June 16, 2018 with a half marathon and 10K distance.
“This new event North of México City will represent a great choice for many runners who live in the northern part of the country as well as United States athletes who live near the México-US border,” said Luis Gálvez, Director of the Mexican Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon Series races.
“Guadalupe and the Monterrey metropolitan area possess a rich culture and amazing historical and touristic sites that runners and their families will be able to enjoy during their stay. We are proud to introduce the world to this part of our country through a Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon Series event,” added Gálvez.
The event offers live music on stages located along the scenic course which will go through beautiful parks, historical sites and vibrant residential areas. The fantastic musical race experience will culminate with a headliner concert and finish line festival for runners and spectators.
Monterrey, the capital city of the State of Nuevo León at the North East of México, is a beautiful, fast growing industrial and commercial center surrounded by mountains. The Palacio del Obispado, a baroque palace containing a regional museum, is the backdrop of the city’s horizon. Monterrey’s downtown site, the Macroplaza, harbours the Museum of Contemporary Art and the Faro del Comercio tower. The extraordinary cuisine of Monterrey, together with its friendly people, will surely win the hearts of all Rock ‘n’ Roll race participants and spectators.

Event weekend in Monterrey kicks off with a two-day Health and Fitness Expo, where participants will be able to collect their race packets and bib numbers on the June 15-16. The Expo will include health and running exhibitors offering samples of sports nutrition products and interactive clinics.
