The Tokyo Marathon is known for its fast course, elite international fields and that it is one of the seven (soon eight) Marathon Major events. Now the international charity application program is open.

A fresh round of applications has opened for Tokyo Marathon 2027 charity runners and donors, and Kidsdoor has again been named an official charity partner — a continuation of its role from the previous edition of the race.

The Tokyo Marathon Charity program exists to broaden the reach of community‑minded initiatives through one of the world’s marquee road races. Prospective participants can step in as charity runners on behalf of Kidsdoor, helping support children who face economic hardship. It’s running with purpose, with the added motivation of knowing each kilometre contributes to a child’s future.

The 2027 event takes place on Sunday, March 7. Kidsdoor has been allocated 145 charity runner entries. A minimum donation of 150,000 JPY is required to qualify. Up to 20 per cent of those spots are reserved for residents of Japan. Within both the domestic and general categories, priority is determined first by donation amount, then by the time the application was submitted.

Applications are open from Wednesday, June 24, 2026, at 11 a.m. through Thursday, July 9 at 5 p.m. Donations without a race entry will be accepted until Monday, Aug. 31 at 5 p.m.

Those wishing to run for Kidsdoor can apply through the Run with Heart portal. Eligibility requirements follow the Tokyo Marathon’s general participant guidelines.
