India has a poorer record than Kenya in regards to doping. According to the 2023 World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) data, India had the highest rate of adverse findings among nations that conducted over 5000 tests. The rate of suspension is 3.8 per cent. Of the 2,04,809 tests conducted globally, 1,820 were positive, and India accounted for 214 of them. Indian athletes make up nearly 12 per cent of total violations. Kenya has the second highest numbers and percentages of athletes caught doping.

Morine Gesare Michira

Morine Gesare Michira of Kenya was provisionally suspended for testing positive for two substances, higenamine and octodrine.

Her best performance is over the half-marathon distance. Last year, at the Milano Half Marathon, she finished in 1:08:13.

The 22-year-old, while fast, has not yet run a significant event while representing Kenya.

Higenamine is found in weight loss supplements. It is available for use in some countries in Europe; however, it is banned by WADA. Octodrine is also a weight loss supplement ingredient. Previously, it was primarily used as a nasal decongestant. The drug is also known as dimethylhexylamine.
