The University of Victoria won both men’s and women’s titles at the 2025 Canada West Cross Country Championships, on October, 25 at Royal Roads University, hosted by the University of Victoria and presented by RunSport.
The Vikes completed the team title sweep as they were crowned champions in both the men’s and women’s divisions. This is the Vikes’ first time winning both team titles in the same year since the 2012-13 season. The women’s team defended their Canada West title, claiming their 23rd win in program history.
“It went well, I am pretty happy with how it went,” said Eybergen. “I just ran it how I usually do, as I tried to stay at the front and see what happens. I did that, I am pretty happy with how it turned out.”
Eybergen, bronze medalist at last year’s U SPORTS Championships, hung with UBCO’s Lauren McNeil for the entirety of the race before McNeil pulled away during the home stretch. Eybergen’s silver medal is her best finish at the Canada West Championships and helped propel the Vikes to their second women’s team title in a row.
The U SPORTS cross country season will come to a close as racers meet Nov. 8 at the University of Sherbrooke in Sherbrooke, QC.
