Grant Fisher
American Grant Fisher clocked his 12:44.09 indoor record at Boston University, where so many great performances happen each year over various meets held on that track. It was February 14, 2025, when Fisher set the record. He also holds several other records, including the World indoor 3000m record, which also counts as the North American indoor and outdoor record at 7:22.91.
The Best Known Time for two miles is Fisher’s as well at 8:03.62, run indoors.
In 2022, he set the North American record for the 10,000m at 26:33.84, which continues to stand.
Phanuel Koech
In Paris, in June last year, Koech ran a U20 world record in 3:27.72. It is an interesting performance as he seemed to have not run any other 1500m races in his career. Koech was running mostly the 800m event, to which this particular performance is an outlier at 1277 World Athletics Points, more than 100 points higher than anything else he has run.
It will be interesting to watch Koech’s career to see what his upside looks like when he matures into his 20s. He turns 20 on Dec. 1, 2026.
Isaac Beacroft
Isaac Beacroft of Australia has racewalked a stunning 38:02.68 performance in the 10,000m.
There are plenty of runners who would like to run 38:02.68. Many don’t love the idea of running 25 laps of the 400m oval. Beacroft clearly is a focused individual and a talent.
At just 18 years of age, winning the U20 title at the World Race Walking Team Championships in Antalya in 2024, is outstanding. He bettered the 38:46.40 by Russia’s Viktor Burayev in Moscow on 20 May 2000.
