Canadian pole vaulter Alysha Newman and Indian high jumper Pooja Aatmaram have been suspended by the Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU).

Alysha Newman

The Paris Olympic bronze medallist has missed three doping tests in 12 months and therefore has received notice of an appealable suspension from the AIU.

Her personal best is the national record at 4.85 metres.

The AIU has not released details on when Newman’s three missed tests occurred. A whereabouts failure is considered equal to a first-time doping positive.

Athletes are required to update their location through a mobile app and provide a one-hour time window for anti-doping testing to take place.

The 31-year-old Vancouver-based athlete has not competed much since the Paris Olympic Games. Her last performance was just over a year ago at the Czech Indoor Gala, in Atletická hala, Ostrava, CZE, where she vaulted to the height of 4.80m.

Pooja Aatmaram

Aatmaram has been suspended for Evading, Refusing or Failing to Submit to Sample Collection by an Athlete.

As information at this time is preliminary, there is no athlete on record by the name of Pooja Aatmaram; however, there is an 18-year-old high jumper named Pooja Singh.

The article will be updated as information becomes available.
