In June, Athletics Illustrated covered the suspension of 40-year-old Kenyan Dickson Cheuiyot for doping.
He has now been banned for six years. The results of aggravating circumstances led to the addition of two more year to his suspension for the presence use of more than one drug or process: Epitrenbolone and rEPO.

rEPO or recumbent EPO is a synthetic, laboratory-created version of erythropoietin. It is a hormone naturally produced by the human kidneys and is classified as an erythropoiesis-stimulating agent (ESA) because it signals the bone marrow to produce more red blood cells. It is illegal to use in sports.
Epitrenbolone is an anabolic steroid and a known urinary metabolite of trenbolone, a potent synthetic performance-enhancing drug originally used in veterinary medicine to promote cattle growth.
His personal best range from 10K 29:22 to the marathon at 2:13:14,  run over a decade prior.
The AIU also announced the suspension of Ugandan Harbert Kibet. The 21-year-old set a 10km road personal best in February, running 26:39 in Castellón, Spain. In 2025, he ran 13:00 on the roads and 13:11.87 in the 5000m.
He tested positive for Triamcinolone acetonide & Exogenous Steroids after Isotope Ratio Mass Spectrometry (IRMS), a precise laboratory technique used to measure the relative amounts of stable isotopes in a blood sample.
Finally, the AIU also announced over social media that Emmanuel Wafula of Kenya was suspended for the presence or use of Testosterone.
The 21-year-old clocked a stunning 59:42 in Napoli, Italy in Feb., 2025 and then a 59:20 in Maranello, Italy one month later. It appears that he did not race this year.
