Kipchumba, who won last year’s New York City Half Marathon was back to defend his title, and he did in record time clocking 59:09.

“Today the field was so strong, that told me to push more, and then I ran that 59:09,” Kipchumba told the New York Road Runner’s podcast.

The 31-year-old owns a personal best from the 2021 running of the Valencia Half Marathon where he ran 58:07.

American Connor Mantz took second place with his 59:15 personal best performance. And finishing in third was Hillary Bor of the US who clocked a finish time of 59:55PB. Bor is a former Kenyan.
