Kenyan former half-marathon world record holder Kibiwott Kandie has been suspended by the Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU) for failing to submit a sample. The AIU refers to the charge as Evading, Refusing, or Failing to Submit to Sample Collection by an Athlete.

The 28-year-old took nearly half a minute off the world record in the half marathon when he ran 57:32 in the 2020 Valencia Half Marathon. In December 2023, Kandie ran the Valencia Marathon in the time of 2:04:48, which represents his personal best. Since 2019, he has run a sub-60-minute half-marathon at least 10 times.
In 2020, he took silver during the Gdynia World Half Marathon Championships.
Fellow Kenyan Geoffrey Kamworor set the half marathon world record at 58:01 when he ran the 2019 Copenhagen Half Marathon. The record is now held by Ugandan Jacob Kiplimo at 56:42 in Barcelona last month.
