Belgrade 22 organizing committee reveals 2022 World Indoor Championships logo

"This is an exciting milestone for the city of Belgrade, the host of the 2022 World Indoor Championships, as it reveals a logo that represents both its culture and ambitions as a sporting city," said Sebastian Coe, World Athletics President by a media statement.

The Belgrade 22 organizing committee revealed the official logo for the 2022 Belgrade World Indoor Championships at Belgrade’s City Hall.

The logo design speaks to the heritage of Serbia, its capital city of Belgrade, and the sport of athletics, of course.

The shape is borrowed from the new World Athletics logo. However, it includes stylized depictions of the Kalemegdan Fortress, Belgrade Palace, and the Ada Bridge. The event is dubbed, Belgrade 22 and the horizontally-shaped rectangle includes the name.

“This is an exciting milestone for the city of Belgrade, the host of the 2022 World Indoor Championships, as it reveals a logo that represents both its culture and ambitions as a sporting city,” said Sebastian Coe, World Athletics President by a media statement.

“In just 18 months, Belgrade will welcome the global athletics community and we are confident that our Local Organising Committee will be well-prepared and will deliver a highly successful event for athletes and fans from around the world.

“I am very much looking forward to being there and seeing our athletes put on a show.”

Belgrade was chosen to host the championships in November 2019.

The ancient city (pre-279 BC) is home to nearly two million people. The city last hosted the 2017 European Indoor Championships.
