Six British athletes with legitimate world‑class credentials will step onto the London Stadium track on Saturday, 18 July for the Novuna London Athletics Meet, the eleventh stop on the 2026 Wanda Diamond League circuit. Organizers report that 50,000 tickets are already spoken for, which should make for the kind of noisy, appreciative crowd that tends to bring out the best in the home athletes.

Charlie Dobson returns as one of last year’s standout performers. The Colchester sprinter produced a memorable finish in 2025, storming from seventh to first over the final 100 metres to win in a personal best of 44.14. Now 26, he will face a far stiffer test in a loaded 400 that includes British record holder Matt Hudson‑Smith and Olympic champion Quincy Hall. Dobson said the atmosphere in London has been a difference‑maker for him in the past and he is eager to get back in front of that audience.

Morgan Lake arrives with her own London breakthrough still fresh. The three‑time Olympian claimed her first Diamond League high jump victory last summer with a 1.96 clearance, then pushed her British record to 2.00 metres at the Zurich Final. She later captained the Novuna GB and NI squad at the World Championships in Tokyo, a nod to her growing stature in the event.

The women’s 3000 metres will feature a strong British trio in Megan Keith, Hannah Nuttall and Innes FitzGerald. Keith has been on a tear since placing tenth in the 10,000 at the Tokyo Worlds. She set a European 10K road record of 30:07 in February and followed it with a Scottish 3000 record of 8:28.35 in Oslo. FitzGerald continues her rapid ascent as one of Britain’s most compelling young distance runners. She broke Zola Budd’s European U20 5000 record at last year’s London meet with a 14:39.56 performance, then added a third straight U20 European cross‑country title. She opened her 2026 season with an 8:33.66 run in Oslo. Nuttall, a two‑time British 5000 champion, placed eighth in that event at the Tokyo Worlds and clocked 8:35.20 in Oslo.

Phoebe Gill, still only 19, will take on a deep women’s 800 that includes Keely Hodgkinson and Georgia Hunter Bell. Gill has risen quickly through the ranks. She set British U17 records in the 800 and 1500 in 2023, reached the Olympic 800 semifinals at 17, and has continued to progress. She ran a 4:04.53 personal best in the 1500 in May and returned to the 800 with a win in Marseille in 2:00.81.

The Novuna London Athletics Meet is billed as the world’s largest one‑day track and field event. The Diamond League spans 15 meetings across four continents, beginning this year in Shanghai and concluding with a two‑day final in Brussels on 4 and 5 September.
